The locals said crime such as cattle rustling has gone down since Matiang'i was named the Interior Cabinet Secretary.

"Crime has gone down since Matiang'i the Interior Cs boss. He has been working around the clock deploying competent police officers to curb cattle rustling which was a menace in the area," said Judith Nyaboke.

Ms Nyaboke expressed confidence that Matiang'i will perform more better in his new role in government.

"As local we are behind Matiang'i who got promoted recently. Let him work for us to ensure criminals are flushed out from the area," she added.

Jared Martin stated that were it not Matiang'i cattle rustlers could have killed locals.

"Matiang'i is the reason police officers are hard working, patrolling 24 hours a day. President Uhuru Kenyatta should not make a mistake to move Matiang'i from his current docket," said Martin.

Boniface Ondari urged police officers led by area police boss Michael Lesmum not to relent war on crime.

"Lesmum should ensure his juniors are working hard to keep off criminals who may be out to steal people's livestock," Ondari stated
