A middle-aged woman was arrested for allegedly stealing small babies.
The incident happened on Monday in Sirirokwe village, Nyaribari Masaba in Kisii County.
Area chief, Aaron Magaki, said the suspect, Ann Nyamoti, was nabbed after a tip-off from members of the public.
“Ann has in several occasions been linked to the theft of children in the village. We raided her house on Friday and found her with a 5-year-old girl who she confessed to have stolen from Ramasha and she was to sell her to a client in Migori,” said the chief.
The administrator said the woman was arrested and taken to Kisii Central police station for court processing.
Kisii Central OCPD Francis Nguli said the woman will be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
“Child theft will not be condoned in the area. The woman will be taken to court. We are also questioning her to tell us more on the people she has been colluding with,” he said.
He warned parents against selling their children saying whoever is caught will face the law alone.
