Renowned city lawyer and legal analyst Steve Ogolla has weighed in on the divorce proceedings pitting Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and his estranged wife Marianne Kitany.
In a tweet on Thursday, Mr Ogolla disparaged the proceedings as a spectacular display of moral mediocrity.
He said the Constitution provides for a quiet divorce in order to spare the public the prospect of parties to a divorce washing their dirty linen in public.
"MARIANNE KITANY divorce proceedings is a spectacular display of moral mediocrity. Section 69 of the Marriage Act anticipates the option of a quiet exit from customary marriage by either party simply alleging desertion, and sparing the world the inner drama of adult love, " the tweet read.
The lawyer's intervention came just hours after the latest court appearance by Kitany who ran a slide show in court of pictures of her alleged wedding to the senator.
Kitany doubled down on her salacious revelations, claiming that Linturi watched x-rated content, engaged in adultery and denied her conjugal rights; a cocktail of factors that she says informed her decision to seek divorce.
Linturi has, however, maintained that the two were never married and that Kitany was just a visitor who overstayed her visit.
At the centre of the divorce proceedings is a multi-million shilling property whose construction Kitany claims she contributed to.
