A Jubilee MP has accused a section of state officials and politicians from Mt Kenya of allegedly forcing him to support ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro on Monday dismissed chances of supporting Mr Odinga, arguing that doing so will be equivalent to committing suicide at his constituency.
The youthful MP instead said DP William Ruto is still very popular in the region, adding that nobody will intimidate him to support Mr Odinga.
"I will not commit political suicide by selling Raila here. I listen to my people and I know he's unsellable in Mt Kenya. I cannot sell Raila even at gunpoint, let them come and face the people. Let them stop intimidating me. I can't leave Tanga Tanga," he said.
Nyoro, who was accused of disrupting a church service on Sunday, accused Dr Fred Matiang'i and PS Karanja Kibicho of allegedly misleading police officers.
He asked the two civil servants to join politics instead of dragging police officers into politics by asking them to intimidate MPs disloyal to Mr Odinga.
"Matiang'i and Kibicho, the work you've been given by President Uhuru Kenyatta, you must never misuse those instruments. If you want to join politics, stop dragging our police officers into the game. Most of them are doing their job well," he added.
Recently, Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru said that Mt Kenya region will vote for Mr Odinga, arguing that the former Prime Minister is conversant with women leadership.
“Raila understands the challenges women are facing. He has spoken firmly about it even during the funeral of Joyce Laboso (the former Bomet Governor),” Waiguru said, insisting that women must have representation at the executive level.
Mt Kenya region has remained unsettled with impending retirement of President Uhuru Kenyatta even making matters worse. They have no known kingpin to take over from Uhuru.
