The DPP has now ordered detectives at his office to dig deeper into the evidence in the saga to ensure that the suspects are brought to book.

The suspects, who were part of the 75 suspended over abetting tax evasion as well as corruption, now risk jail after the revelation from the office of the DPP.

Haji has asked the detectives to tighten the belt as he seeks to unearth the truth behind the saga as soon as possible.

He has also asked the officers to present more documentary evidence in relation to the case.

In an internal memo to KRA Commissioner General Mburu Githii, Haji said that there is more work he needs to do in order to file the case before the court over the suspect’s links to graft and tax evasion.

The document indicates that Haji has evidence to prosecute the suspects in the saga. He, however, wants all pertinent issues addressed to make the case concrete.

“There was concurrence with the multi-agency team to charge suspects before the 18th of July with various offenses. However, the ODPP raised pertinent issues that must be covered before charging/plea taking,” the memo reads, as quoted by Standard.

The tax evasion saga continues to elicit mixed reactions from different factions following the revelations.
