Renowned academic and socio-political Makau Mutua has added his voice to that of other Kenyans following an attack by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the socio-political commentator called on the Kenyan government to close the border with Somalia.
"Al Shabaab is starting to pose an existential threat to the stability of the republic. Kenya should close its border with Somalia, the failed state, to end the threat, " the renowned academician contended.
The suspected Al-Shabaab attack at Kamuthe is reported to have left at least three teachers dead as the terrorists went on a rampage.
The attack was confirmed by law enforcement authorities who said that a teacher had also been abducted.
They also set ablaze a police post,” one senior officer said as quoted by Capital FM on its news portal, “they have killed three teachers and our officers are pursuing them. They went away with another teacher, " he added.
The porous nature of the border between Kenya and Somalia has been blamed for the attacks as the militants are able to get into the country, stage attacks and go back to Somalia.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained that the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will continue with their operation until Al-Shabaab is defeated.
