The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) now says that it will soon be going for top officials named in the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) mall scandal.
This follows revelations that the construction cost of the mall in Kisumu, which has been lying idle since completion, was inflated from the initially quoted Sh2 billion to Sh4.1 billion.
The EACC is now also saying that the construction was marred with cases of bribery.
Appearing before the Senate Devolution Committee on Tuesday, EACC Director of Investigations Abdi Mohamud said that over 90 persons have since been interrogated.
He said that some of them will soon be arraigned in court to face corruption charges.
He said that the list of suspected persons has since been forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DPP) and is only awaiting approval after which the police will go for the suspects and arraign them in court.
“These investigations have come to a closure given that the file relating to this matter has been handed over to the DPP who has directed that we address a few things. Soon, the file of the DPP will be made public," he told the senators.
Mr Mohamud added that the commission also investigated allegations of fictitious claims by the constructor and questionable variation of contract, adding that the probe also revealed irregularities in feasibility studies, procurement and consultancy services.
This follows questions by Kisumu Senator Fred Outa who wants to know how yhw construction sum jumped from Sh2.5 billion to Sh4.1 billion before the mall was finally erected in Mamboleo.
