The fire was reported early in the morning and its cause has not been established.

Several people have also been rushed to hospital after they were injured in the melee that ensued. 

Kenya Red Cross said Nairobi County fire team had responded well.

"Nairobi County fire brigade team responded and contained the inferno,” Kenya Red Cross said.
