Governor Charity Ngilu has been installed as the scouts' patron in Kitui County.
Ngilu will go down in Kenyan historical books as the first governor to be installed in the position since devolution took effect in 2013.
During her colorful installation ceremony in Kitui town on Tuesday, Ngilu promised to work with the scout's leadership in the region to ensure the county's growth and that it becomes a favorable place for everyone, locals, and non-locals."As I take this mantle, I assure you that we will work together in making Kitui County a better place for everyone and I believe that nothing can't be accomplished if we walk on the same path," Ngilu said.
Ngilu said she is interested in upholding the Scouts' principles, values, law, and promise.
She will be leading 42,000 scouts and their 2,210 leaders in the county.
The governor's installation was presided over by the Kenya Scouts Association training executive Peter Muema.
He was accompanied by the association's special programmes executive Musa Mukagwa.
Kitui County scouts commissioner Susan Ngari also attended the event.
Ngari exuded confidence that Ngilu will deliver in her new role.
The function was also attended by more than 200 scouts from the region.
