A year after he was acquitted of Mercy Keino's murder by Magistrate Peter Ndwiga, former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has spoken about the controversial death of the university student.

The 25-year-old Masters student at the University of Nairobi's body was discovered along Waiyaki Way in 2011hours after being spotted with the former Juja MP.

And on Jeff Koinange Show on Wednesday, Kabogo dismissed 'conspiracy theorists' who linked the slain student's murder with that of Sharon Otieno, another student believed to have been murdered by Migori Governor Okoth Obado's associates.

"I know why they want me to answer that. It's because Okoth Obado is in prison having linked with the murder of that student.

"But believe me I had nothing to do with Mercy Keino's death. It was a simple accident along Waiyaki highway. Allow that poor child to rest in peace," he said.

Investigations presented before the court maintained that Ms. Keino, by the time she stormed out of the apartment where she attended a party hosted by Kabogo, was 'extreamly drunk and could barely find her way'.

And last year, Mercy's father Joseph Keino, maintained the flamboyant politician had a hand in the daughter's death.

"He had the responsibility of ensuring Mercy was safe. He neglected that," he maintained.
