Renowned lawyer Miguna Miguna has said that Kenyans have nothing to celebrate as far as Madaraka Day is concerned.
The Canada-based activist said that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have not done much since the year started.
He noted that the Jubilee regime has not initiated projects worth changing the lives of the people of this nation. He insisted that Uhuru and his team have failed in delivering their mandate.
“Kenyans have nothing to celebrate during #MadarakaDay2019. After 56 years of saluting a meaningless flag and singing a hollow anthem, 99.99% of Kenyans have no economic, political or cultural independence. Join us in the struggle for true independence. Join the revolution.#Revolt,” he tweeted on Saturday.
In his Madaraka Day message, President Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, said that his leadership has implemented different projects since the year started. He noted that his is committed in the war against graft before he leaves power.
“We have come far as a Nation since the Crown caved in to our clamour for self-determination. We have achieved a lot, but it has also been a tough journey. Today, Kenya is a country of consequence. We anchor the fragile peace and security in our region. We are a generous country that works hard to build peace among our neighbours, “he said.
