Deputy President William Ruto is among the highest earners in the nation.
Ruto’s financial rise has seen him being put on the spot on several occasions.
How much does DP Ruto make per day?
According to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), no government official earns more than the President and his deputy.
DP Ruto is paid Ksh 1,487,500 which excludes allowances per month.
This means that the second in command pockets an average of 49583 as a 30-day calendar.
The commission has set the salary of the President at monthly at Ksh 1,650,000 per month.
The stated amount does not include the allowances.
This means that the President takes home more than Ksh 20 million without payee and allowances.
Despite promising to take pay cuts in 2014, the two leaders have not taken any step so far.
Instead, they were given a pay rise.
Many Kenyans have been questioning the source of Deputy President William Ruto’s wealth.
A recent poll by IPSOS ranked the DP as the most corrupt leader in Kenya.
DP has, however, rubbished the poll, terming it propaganda.
"We know how these things are done. Let me ask you, between propaganda and development which one do you prefer?" Mr Ruto said during Endebess MP Robert Pukose's thanksgiving ceremony in Trans Nzoia County on Friday.
