Kalonzo said President Uhuru Kenyatta had agreed to deputize him while Ruto offered to be the Majority Leader at the National Assembly if himself (Kalonzo) was fronted for the seat.

He spoke at a political rally in Machakos, at a time when both Kenyatta and Ruto were facing cases at the International Court of Criminal Justice (ICC) for their alleged role in the 2007/2008 Post Election Violence.

The hope of getting support from the duo came to an end when they formed a team to succeed former President Mwai Kibaki.

Kalonzo later joined former Prime Minister Raila Odinga under the Coalition for Restoration of Democracy (CORD) in the fight to take over power.

Both two sides mounted mother of all campaigns in 2013, but the Kenyatta's team carried the day.

Kalonzo's dream to become President is still alive.

He has already expressed interest in the country's top seat ahead of the 2022 polls.

Kalonzo is banking on Raila's political support among other leaders to emerge the victor in the forthcoming elections.#historynow
