Former Harambee Stars captain and later assistant coach Musa Otieno will be making a come-back to local sports after he was nominated by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to the sports development department in the county.
The appointment, which was made last week, will see Otieno and other renowned sportsmen and women bring heads together to find a solution for the future of local sports.
Otieno will also work alongside former teammate Dennis Oliech, who has also been nominated to the group.
"I’ve also nominated former Harambee Stars players Musa Otieno and Dennis Oliech to be members of the committee."The committee that will comprise of 10 other members will promote and develop sports activities in Nairobi County," said Sonko during the appointments.
other members include Hashim Kamau, Judith Njagi, and Lea Mumo Mate.
“This team, which is composed of Kenyans who played in the international games, will help us develop our own sports locally. We believe that they will share with us their great experience and they will be inspirational to our own youth,” added Sonko.
Otieno was one of the best defenders during his time and enjoyed an illustrious career both locally and internationally.
He represented Santos of South Africa, where he played for many years until hi hang his boots.
He later joined the national team as the team's assistant coach.
