Political analyst Martin Omollo now says that the ongoing political romance between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga is not to be downplayed.
Speaking on Monday, the commentator said that the two leaders are promising to change the direction of politics in the nation, judging by their moves.
He added that their union is most likely to give birth to a major political union and bloc aimed at influencing the results in the approaching 2022 general elections.
"Wale wanaodhani huu muungano ni wa mchezo wajue kuna kitu kinachokuja (the people downplaying it should brace for a major blow in 2022)," he said.
Omollo was speaking in an interview on Milele FM's Kivumbi Show Monday morning.
"Kuna vuguvugu linalokuja ambalo litawaunganisha hawa wawili (something major is coming, a union between the two)," he said.
Uhuru and Raila have remained close since their ceasefire and truce on March 9, 2018, a reconciliation that saw them shelve their initial political enmity.
However, they have maintained that their union is not in any way politically based, but is rather a technique to eradicate political hostility and enhance development.
The union, however, faces opposition from a section of Uhuru's Jubilee Party members who are observing it as a plan to scuttle Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential plans.
