Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has been dragged to local politics following Appeals Court ruling that upheld Governor John Nyagarama's victory on Thursday.
Former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati, who challenged Nyagarama's victory, believes that Matiang'i 'heavily interfered' with the case.
Through his lawyer Osoro Mogikoyo, Nyambati will however challenge the outcome again at the Supreme Court.
"Yes, I have instructions to file Notice of Appeal at the Supreme Court on Friday morning," he said in a text message.
He added: "I have already prepared it. Definitely money exchanged hands and CS Fred Matiang'i interfered heavily."
Last week at a function in Nairobi, the CS, who is believed to be be keen on throwing his hut to succeed Nyagarama in 2022, asked Nyambati to withdraw the petition.
"I would like to urge my brother Nyambati to allow the governor complete his term. We should now minimise politicking."
The former MP, who led President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaign in Nyanza, is optimistic of victory at the Supreme Court.
In August polls, he lost by a margin of 6,500 votes and insists that his competitor rigged the elections.
