It was all cries and pain for a University of Eldoret student on Saturday evening after England's Eric Dier missed to score in a one on one situation with the Belgium goalkeeper.
David Momanyi who admitted not to be a football fan said he was asked by his friend to place a bet on Dier to score at any time with any amount as the Tottenham Hotspur defender was destined to put himself in the score sheet.
The first-year student pursuing a bachelor's degree in informatics science was so much convinced that he placed his bet with Sh11,500 he had saved from his HELB loan.
And with Eric Dier placed at 81.00 odds to score at any time, the student was expecting to make Sh931,500.
The student revealed that he almost fainted when Dier was denied a goal by his club-mate, Toby Alderweireld on the 70th minute after successfully beating goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
"I can't believe that I have lost my Sh931,500. It was really mine had it not been that guy...He denied me my money. Realy painful," he said.
Momanyi, however, said that he holds no grudge with anybody including his friend, Daniel who told him to bet.
He further revealed that had he won the money, he would have used some to draw a party for his friends with the remaining saving for his future investment when advised accordingly.
