Deputy President William Ruto is a skilled leader, backed-up with sufficient experience having served in the parliament and a minister.

Therefore, his presidential bid comes at the right time, as he has what it takes to lead in that capacity.

The DP, however, risks not capturing the seat judging by numerous graft allegations against him.

Though it is actually good to be generous and to give whenever necessary, Ruto's generosity is alarming and suspicious and is actually slimming his winning chances.

He is known to give out millions of shillings in donations almost every weekend and though the money might be rightly acquired, it portrays him as an insincere person who has hidden sources of income.

This will easily justify the arguments of his critics who are accusing him of theft of public resources, which will automatically land him on the losing side, especially now that Kenyans have angrily risen up against corruption.

I believe in his 'hustler' narrative as though he might be rich now, it is visible that he made it from the lowest level and came out of nowhere to be the Deputy President.

However, that too will not be of any use to him basing on the tribal Kenyan voting pattern.

He has to come out of the thought that he will get votes from hustlers and the youth simply because he was one of them years back.

Apart from his manifesto which is yet to be launched, I think he is more of vying because he considers it silly to go back at this level, now that the presidency is the only remaining thing before him.

However, Ruto should prepare for a tough job ahead, as though he seems well prepared and committed, he will obviously have to go past other equally prepared candidates to emerge the victor.
