Opposition leader Raila Odinga is one of the most loved and followed leaders nationally, with the admiration also bringing some sort of hatred from his rivals and their supporters and allies as well.
He has, however, always been safe from the attacks courtesy of his platoon of loyal allies who have always told off his rivals who are on most occasions led by his biggest nemesis and Deputy President William Ruto.
Raila’s defense team, apart from vocal lawmakers like Suna East parliamentarian Junet Mohammed and his Mbita counterpart Millie Odhiambo, also includes Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi.
Here are his Nyanza home ground Governors who are never there when he needs them, despite being expected to defend him when necessary.
1. Cyprian Awiti
The Homa-bay Governor has always remained silent, never coming out at all when Raila is in trouble.
The latest instance being when the former Premier was accused by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of influencing the evictions in the Mau Forest, he never made any attempt to intervene.
2. Okoth Obado
Obado is actually the newest rebel from Odinga’s Luo Nyanza turf, after openly opposing Raila’s Orange Party’s choice of Ochilo Ayacko to fill the vacant Migori senatorial seat.
Therefore, instead of being of help to the veteran politician who even endorsed his re-election bid, he is instead backbiting him by working towards making the seat go to another party.
The Migori Governor is also not known to intervene in Raila’s political woes and has remained distant when Raila lands in trouble.
3. Cornelius Rasanga
The Siaya Governor, despite leading Raila’s home county, is also not known to use his place as a county boss to hit out at Raila’s critics when they come calling.
He is, actually, one of the most silent Governors nationally and has failed to market the county which has given the nation most of its Luo heroes, including former Potus Barrack Obama's father Barrack Obama Senior and former Vice President the late Jaramogi Oginga.
