Former Kibwezi Member of Parliament Kalembe Ndile now says that the future of Deputy President William Ruto lies in the President Uhuru Kenyatta-Raila Odinga handshake.
Uhuru and the former premier entered into a truce early last year, with Ndile now arguing that fighting the truce will be his biggest undoing with regards to his 2022 presidential bid.
He made the remarks in a press conference in Kitui Town on Wednesday, where he also took jabs at the DP over his recent attacks on Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju.
The DP on Sunday took shots at Tuju over his dalliance with the ODM leader, which Ndile argues is a direct shot at the head of state who is in a working union with Odinga.
“What is wrong with Tuju working with Raila? It is not the same as Uhuru working with Raila,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
Ruto and his camp have not been comfortable with the handshake and have raised their reservations about it, especially the inclusion of Raila who is not in good terms with the DP.
The group is now pushing for the resignation of Tuju, who doubles up as a Cabinet Secretary without portfolio, on grounds that he is dining with a person leading the rival side.
