Nominated MP Maina Kamanda and his Gatundu South counterpart Moses Kuria have been bashed over their ongoing dalliance with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) regarding the Kibra parliamentary campaigns.
While their Jubilee Party has picked former soccer player McDonald Mariga as its candidate, the two have opposed the decision vowing to side with an ODM aspirant.
Kuria on Friday went ahead and campaigned for Benson Musungu ahead of today's ODM primaries, and could be seen in a lorry crisscrossing the constituency with Musungu.
Castigating the actions on Saturday, former Makadara MP Benson Mutura termed it an indication that the duo has crossed over to ODM, telling the party to keep them as they are not needed in Jubilee.
"I've heard that Kamanda and Kuria are campaigning for ODM over there, we have given them the two (Nimesikia akina Kamanda na Kuria wameenda huko kupigia ODM debe, hao tumewapea kabisa)," he said.
The ex-parliamentarian made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning but was dismissed by ODM Nairobi Chair George Aladwa who said that the two are free to make their own decisions.
He said that the two are welcome to work with ODM even after the nominations.
"These are major politicians and have every right to support ODM. Kamanda and Kuria are welcome (Hawa ni vigogo na wako na haki ya kussuport ODM. Kamanda na Kuria karibuni)," added the Makadara MP.
Musungu is among the 10 persons eyeing the ODM ticket.
