A section of Mt Kenya MPs has revealed their plans to hold a meeting before President Uhuru Kenyatta tours the region again.
The lawmakers, who are mostly allied to Deputy President William Ruto, have expressed their dissatisfaction over the issues Uhuru addressed when he met leaders from the region at the Sagana State Lodge.
South Imenti MP Kathuri Murungi is among the leaders who have proposed to hold the meeting in the region to chart the way forward.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has also backed the idea, saying that the needs of the people of Mt Kenya were not addressed to the latter. Kuria feels there is more than meets the eye in Mt Kenya and wants the same addressed as soon as possible.
“I proposed to have the meeting because it is always good for leaders to have a postmortem of a meeting with the President and to team up with the elected leaders to discuss the region’s problems on tea, milk, coffee, and other agricultural products,” Mr. Murungi said on phone.
He also said that the leaders will meet so that they can discuss some of the critical issues facing the residents of the region before Uhuru embarks on his tours ahead of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report release.
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has, however, dismissed the meeting, terming it a waste of time.
On his part, Senator Irungu Kang'ata said that he is not informed about the plans to hold such a meeting. He also said that he will not attend the meeting.
