Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi could survive an expulsion waged by Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress following the Auditor General Edward Ouko's confession.

Last month, ANC kicked out Mr Osotsi over alleged misappropriation of Sh124 million, a move which was certified by Registrar of Political Parties office.

But the former Secretary General of ANC has kept on fighting, challenging the move in all available avenues. He accuses his party of witch-hunt.

Auditor General Edward Ouko, in message written to Osotsi, denies knowledge of a management letter from his office, which was used to ouster the MP.

“I note that the attachment is titled management letter for compliance audit performed for two years ending December 31, 2016 and December 31, 2017 for the ANC,” Mr Ouko says as quoted by the Nation.

“This attachment is unofficial as an audit report. Constitutionally, an audit report can be quoted only if it bears the signature of the Auditor-General. I am therefore a stranger to the quoted report,” he said.

Contacted for comment, acting Secretary-General Barrack Muluka said the Auditor-General’s office had just finished auditing the party’s books but was mum on the management letter in question.

“That is not a question I can answer. It is for the Auditor-General to respond,” Mr Muluka said.

The latest development is a reprieve for Osotsi, who could now challenge his removal from ANC. Musalia Mudavadi has remained mum over his predicaments.
