A section of youths from Nyamira County have sensationally claimed that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i is plotting to block provincial administration officials from attending DP William Ruto's Friday function in the region.
The DP will be fundraising for Mokomoni District SDA Churches at Nyamiranga Secondary School, a function that will be graced by several local leaders according to Borabu MP Ben Momanyi.
Jubilee Youth Leader Ben Nyaribo on Tuesday claimed that there were secret plans to block local administrators and police from providing security during the function.
"We are aware that he (Matiang'i) has instructed police and administrators to keep off. We shall mobilise thousands to attend. Ruto's bid in unstoppable no matter the witch-hunt," he claimed.
But County Commissioner Amos Mariba has denied knowledge of such plans, adding that the local leadership and the administration are aware of the Friday's trip.
"I think it's good at times to shun propaganda. I am not aware of any instructions from above not to attend any function. Our primary duty is to provide security in such gatherings," he said on Tuesday.
A fortnight ago, there are reports that Dr Ruto had a scuffle with Interior PS Karanja Kibicho over withdrawal of security from the former's functions.
Friday's trip will be the first by Dr Ruto to the constituency where Dr Matiang'i comes from in as many months. The trip comes amid impeachment plot by a section of MPs allied to DP Ruto.
