There has been a significant increase in the number of churches in Kenya over the years mainly due to Protestantism. With church attendance by the youth looking staggering, new methods of attracting members to a church never ceases to emerge.
Attracting new members is always key to the ministry growth plan. They do this to build a strong church ministry; not just gaining followers.
To achieve, this they do the following:
1. Use of social media
Churches use media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to reach many people. They spread the gospel by making awareness of their planned events, inspire through the word of God among many others.
2. Through media platforms
They use the mass communication industry such as radio, newspapers and live TV shows like Gospel Sunday on Citizen TV. This makes the church presence known beyond its location. Through these, they are reaching and attract potential members.
3. Encourage personalized invitations
This includes the use of ways like invitation cards, circulars or direct invitation. When a church member invites a friend or a relative, it reduces the unfamiliarity they feel if they'd attended the church without invitation.
4. Designed brands
These include the use of branded t-shirts, printed worship newsletter, and vehicles that offer general invitations to the church. These contain inviting statements to the newcomers.
