A woman from Masagati village in Marani Kisii County has linked the death of her son to witchcraft.
Florence Moraa said her son famously known as 'alter boy' was bewitched by her neighbour.
"My son has been serving at a local Catholic church as a youth leader. He had a bright future which my neighbour didn't like and ended up bewitching him leading to his mysterious death," said Moraa.
She said her neighbour went into hiding immediately she heard of her son's death.
"My neighbour's disappearance from the village is a clear indication that she is responsible for the death of my son. I am appealing to police to search for her and apprehend her to explain why she killed my son," noted Moraa.
A local chief Edward Obwocha confirmed the incident and said the suspected woman is being hunted down.
"It is sad that our people don't want to stop engaging in witchcraft activities. Moraa's neighbour should surrender to police to explain what she knows about the mysterious death which has left villagers in shock," said the chief.
He said the body of the deceased will not be buried until the truth about his death is known.
