Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has accused the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji of not being independent as enshrined in the Constitution.
In an interview on NTV’s Am Live show on Tuesday, the senator claimed Haji has been receiving orders from above. He, however, did not reveal who orders the DPP to arrest suspects in some scandals.
Cheruiyot went on to challenge the DPP to investigate the Ruaraka land sche said has been pending for way too long.
Cheruiyot's remarks come after Haji ordered the arrest of Henry Rotich (Treasury Cabinet Secretary), Kamau Thugge (Treasury Principal Secretary), Jackson Kinyanjui (Treasury Director of resource mobilization) among others.
“DPP Haji is not independent as he is expected. I want to challenge you Noordin Haji, for the past one year plus the file on Ruaraka land has been lying idle on your desk, please prosecute it so that we know you are independent,” he said.
“There are critical questions which unless DPP Haji comes clear about, then in my mind I cannot change the position that either he is a fraudster or completely daft to be able to sell us this kind of a lie,” he said.
