Locals of Kiamokama area in Kisii County are living in fear following the discovery of a dead body of a middle-aged man who was found dumped by the roadside.
According to villagers, the body had deep cuts on both the head and hands which were tied with a rope.
"The dead man is not familiar. I was going to the shop at 6 am when I spotted the body dumped by the roadside and I raised an alarm," said Immaculate Ngare.
Lawrence Seberio said insecurity is at its peak in the area and blamed police officers over laxity.
Area chief, Stephen Ondicho confirmed the incident.
"He might have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped here since no one has recognised him," said the administrator.
Mr Ondicho said he alerted Kiamokama police officers who arrived and took the body to Nyamache Sub County hospital morgue.
He called on members of the public to volunteer information to on the dead man's killers to the authorities.
"Investigations have begun. Anyone whose relative could be missing should visit Nyamache Sub County hospital morgue to identify the body," he assured.
