According to Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, unless the country handles its succession politics with sobriety, the country may plunge into chaos clawing back development.

"Reading Sir Alex Ferguson’s book 'Leading', we must as a country stop living in denial," Murkomen said on Friday in a Tweet.

"One of the biggest challenges we shall face in the next four years is succession management. Some of the best companies in the world including Man United have suffered because of poor succession planning."

He made the remark after revealing that he had made his first achievement in 2019 by reading wholly the book, 'Leading' authored by former Manchester United Manager Alex Ferguson.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is serving his final term and is expected to hand over power in 2022. Already politicians are jostling over who should succeed the former Gatundu South MP as commander in chief.

Allies of Ruto are angling for the country's top position although with unending accusations that there are plans to deny the DP the opportunity to lead the country.

Ruto has already declared that his name would be on the presidential ballot paper come 2022. A 2013 and 2017 pre-election agreement between Uhuru and Ruto say Uhuru would back Ruto's State House bid after completing his presidential term in 2022.

The head of State is presently in good association with his former rival opposition leader Raila Odinga who is also keen on making another attempt at the presidency.
