Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has given an update on how Baby Haimana Wairimu who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer is faring.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the Nairobi County boss said that Wairimu was now out of danger after undergoing surgery in Bengal, India.
According to the governor's post, Baby Haimana will be back in the country next week.
The county boss reiterated his commitment to supporting families in need.
"Do you remember Baby Haimana Wairimu from Komarock who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer? Baby Haimana has been on oxygen support for the last two years. Her chances of survival were very minimal as per the doctors' observation. On the May 2, 2019 SRT decided to airlift her to Bengal in India. Report reaching us from India after a five-hour surgery last week by a group of surgeons is that baby Haimana can now smile again as she's out of danger and shall be coming back home next week," wrote Sonko.
"My message to baby Haimana's Muslim family is that: "Continue believing in Allah for this great miracle for He's the Most Merciful and Beneficent". We also thank him for the many successful similar cases our team has so far aided. We shall continue to offer this kind of services to the needy families but most importantly we shall ensure in future this kind of surgeries are performed in our local hospitals in the county and Kenya in general," he added.
