Donning t-shirts with his image, the rowdy supporters sang his slogans as they interrupted entertainment.

Others were on motorbikes displaying placards with pro-Sonko slogans.

It forced the security to intervene and contain the supporters and the function almost degenerated into a fist fight between the supporters and security men.

Famous Vitimbi actors Mama Kayai and Nyasuguta, who were performing on stage, had to pause their play.

A visibly furious Sonko, who was already at the dais seated, was seen making phone calls apparently giving orders on how to handle the embarrassing supporters.

Sonko had been received by Central Organisation of Trade Union (Cotu) secretary general Francis Atwoli only a few minutes before the incident.

The MC of the event was heard condemning the incident.

“Such conducts should not happen in future. We cannot entertain such behaviours in future,” the MC said.

The Labour Day celebrations were attended by NASA leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula among others.
