A section of owners of driving schools in Nakuru has urged bodaboda operators to adhere to traffic rules in order to curb road accidents in the area.

Speaking on Monday during a meeting with bodaboda operators in Flamingo Ward, Nakuru East Sub-County, the owners of Budget, Umoja and Enjoy driving schools said the operators have largely contributed to the numerous accidents that have been witnessed in the area in the recent past.

They said as instructors, they are committed to ensuring road safety through enhanced training and called on other stakeholders to collaborate in bringing sanity to the roads.

Led by Enjoy Driving School proprietor Mr Elly Owino, they said they will continue to partner with elected leaders in ensuring more youths are trained on matters road safety.

“Our aim as driving schools owners is to ensure your safety and that is why we will continue to partner with elected leaders to offer training on road safety,” he said.

Bondeni Police Station deputy OSC Stephen Mwinyi also called on the operators to be vigilant and report any suspicious individuals to police.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Flamingo Ward Administrator Mr Levy Langat noted that a few individuals are using the sector to engage in criminal activities.

“We know there are a few elements who are using the sector to commit crimes and that is why we are urging operators to be vigilant,” said Mr Langat.
