Giving our children some dessert before hitting the sack can be perilous. Most parents are fond of doing so which is wrong.
Parents need to school on important aspects of life like foods that they should avoid feeding their kids. Some often cause insomnia while others trigger heartburn.
1. Overly salty foods
These foods interfere with a child's digestion system. They slow down the process and this bars your child from getting enough sleep. He or she will be turning and tossing on the bed.
2. Sugary desserts
Cookies, ice cream and candy are the foods endowed with much sugar. Biologically, the food component is often digested to give out energy that makes your kid more active hence he or she won't fall asleep very fast.
Parents should avoid giving them these desserts before bedtime.
3. Caffeine
Many foods contain caffeine. As you all know, caffeine keeps somebody awake for long hours.
Similar to adults, it also makes children awake. Cola, coffee and chocolate are dangerous to children. Caffeine increases the rate of urine excretion.
4. Red meat
Your child's digestion system is still developing and therefore red meat like pork and sausage are hard to digest. If you want your child to have a bite of such foods, give him or her during daytime but not minutes to bed.
