On Monday, Deputy President made a phone call to Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti claiming that his life was in danger.
Ruto revealed that some Cabinet Secretaries from Mt Kenya region were having secret meetings in a plot to assassinate him.
In light of the claims, the DCI summoned Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya (Trade), Joe Mucheru (ICT) Sicily Kariuki (Health) and James Macharia (Transport) to record statements on the issue.
Munya acknowledged having meetings at hotel La Mada but for development purposes.
“We want to confirm we have been having meetings. Indeed, we had a meeting in La Mada and we will continue having meetings because under the Constitution of Kenya, there is freedom of assembly and expression,” Munya added.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Tuesday came out to make some revelations about the La Mada meeting that was allegedly connected to the plot to kill Ruto.
In an interview with NTV, Kuria revealed that he is the one who initiated the meeting at La Mada. He further reveals that he is the one who chose La Mada as he was the coordinator on development matters in their region.
“This whole meeting of La Mada including the choice of La Mada hotel, I am the one who initiated it. Because I was the coordinator on development matters from our region. And to solve our development matters, I had to pull together everybody. Senators, MPs, CSs, PSc, business people. This the only meeting you know,” he said.
However, he distanced himself from the ongoing assassination plot debate in the La Mada meeting.
“I am saying that in that particular meeting that they didn’t discuss these matters that have been arising, I cannot tell. Maybe, maybe not,” he added.
