Nairobi County Women Representative Esther Passaris has backed Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s decision to suspend the demolition of kiosks and houses in slum areas.
According to the ODM MP, the governor's bold decision will benefit the poor residents.
"Sonko made a bold move to suspend the demolition of houses and kiosks in slum areas as this will enable residents in those areas to plan themselves well before relocating. As leaders we should put the interests of our people first," she said.
Passaris called on the Jubilee governor to ensure there is inclusivity in his government.
"My appeal to Sonko is that he should include other leaders in the county when coming up with development plans and projects to curb unnecessary opposition. Otherwise, Sonko is doing a tremendous job," she noted.
She urged Sonko when making impromptu visits to health facilities such as Pumwani Maternity Hospital to alert her so that she accompanies him.
Passaris was speaking on Saturday during the Mashujaa Day Celebration at Pumwani Grounds in Kamukunji constituency.
