Murang’a Women Representative Sabina Chege has asked Deputy President William Ruto to ignore propaganda that Mt Kenya voters will not support him in 2022.
Chege said DP Ruto is Kenya’s choice for president in 2022 and that they (Mt Kenya region) will fully back him.
Speaking to journalists in Murang’a Town on Monday, the Women Rep said DP Ruto will automatically succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.
“There is no debate on whether Mt Kenya will rally behind Ruto or not, our stand is that DP Ruto must be president,” she said.
The MP castigated a section of Kikuyu elders for allegedly asking Ruto to retire alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
She said that some of the Kikuyu elders are being led by selfish interests, adding that they have no say when it comes to the 2022 presidential election.
The MP at the same time castigated the ‘Hatuna Deni, Kitaeleweka’ song that insinuates the Central region will not back DP Ruto's presidential bid in 2022.
Chege asked the artist behind the song to apologize, adding that as leaders they will not tolerate actions that are likely to cause rifts among Kenyans.
The debate on whether the Mt Kenya region will support DP Ruto in 2022 rages on even after the DP stated that no one owes him a debt.
Ruto on Sunday asked Kenyans to shun propaganda and work with the Jubilee government in building the nation.
