Speaking at Citizen TV live on Wednesday, Sakaja argued that, it was barely two years after the contested elections of 2017 and more than three years to the next, which would be conducted in 2022.

The second Nairobi Senator opined that the elected leaders ought to fulfil their campaign pledges while shoving aside politics until the right time.

The vocal lawmaker revealed how president Uhuru Kenyatta called Jubilee leaders to a meeting after the last elections and requested them to abandon politics and instead focus on delivering their mandate to the electorate.

He further disclosed that the president shook hands with the opposition chief Raila Odinga and agree to put aside political differences in order to work together for the good of the country.

"He humbled himself as a president and went to somebody who had been sworn in as people's president and said 'My brother Raila, tukae pamoja tufanye kazi (let us work together for the citizens)'," said the Senator.

Former TNA party chairman took issue with Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga political factions in Jubilee who had refused to heed to the president's call to avoid early campaigns, despite their counterparts from the opposition doing so.

"The opposition then kept quiet. I didn't hear politics from Wiper. I didn't hear from ODM.I didn't hear politics from outside. It came to our party. As Jubilee, Tanga Tanga is wrong, Kieleweke is wrong, both of them. An eye for an eye, we both lose our sight," observed Sakaja.

Sakaja accused the two factions of raising political temperatures, as he pleaded with them to tone down on the same and concentrate on working for the citizens.
