Uasin Gishu County Woman Representative Gladys Shollei says she fully supports Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
During the Eldoret City Marathon held a few weeks ago, Shollei was heckled by residents when she distanced herself from either the tangatanga political group associated with DP Ruto.
She said that she was elected to serve the electorate and not to engage in politics.
However, speaking in Eldoret on Tuesday, the Uasin Gishu Woman Rep pledged to support DP Ruto's bid noting that he is the most suitable leader to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I want to state categorically that I fully support William Ruto because he is our leader in the region. I know he is up to the task and my absence in his political meeting should not paint me as anti-Ruto,” she said.
Shollei reiterated that she has never ditched DPs camp since she was elected in the 2017 general elections.
“I know there is no one to challenge him and we will work round the clock to ensure he captures the country’s presidency come 2022,” added Shollei.
Shollei who was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket is serving her first term and has been criticised by residents for not being part of the tangatanga team that is actively campaigning for Ruto.
