Opposition Leader Raila Odinga on Friday met Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o, and Rarieda Legislator Otiende Amollo during an event organised in honor of Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth.
The leaders attended the celebration of the Archbishop's 40 years in service of the Roman Catholic Church that were held at the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel, Kisumu.

The celebration was also attended by Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili and Youth Enterprise Fund Chair Ronnie Osumba.
Speaking at the function, the former Prime Minister narrated his history with the Bishop, adding that he was one of his chief advisers who championed for his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Odinga noted that Bishop Okoth played a critical role in helping him exile successfully, after secretly hosting him at his official Archbishop home in Riat before he proceeded to Uganda.
Archbishop Okoth is one of the committee members that was nominated by the Opposition Chief to spearhead the Building Bridges initiative.
In his address the Archbishop asked the Prime Minister to help him in quest to ensure Uzima University acquires a fully fledged University charter.

In a tweet after the event, Otiende noted that he was pleased to attend the dinner celebration.
"Had the pleasure of attending Celebratory Dinner of Archbishop Zacheus Okoth’s 40 Years as Bishop in Kisumu, Service to God is Trully a Calling Beyond Self..Congratulations Archbishop! In different place, at a different time, you’d have headed the Catholic Church in Kenya!" Otiende tweeted.
