Police officers in Marani Sub-County are still hunting down thugs who broke into the house of Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi and stole utensils including sufurias and a Television set.
Marani OCPD Hillary Talus on Thursday said thieves broke into the MP's rural home in Metembe on the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
"The thieves are being searched by police with the help of Nyumba Kumi officials in Metembe. The thugs must be apprehended because cases of thugs breaking into houses and stealing are at the peak in the area," said the OCPD.
Talus appealed to residents to remain calm and assured that police have intensified security patrols at night to flush out criminals taking advantage of the darkness to steal.
He also challenged residents to report anyone they suspect is a criminal hiding in the village for necessary action.
"The identity of any member of the public who will volunteer information to security officers will not be revealed whatsoever. I urge residents to cooperate with police to ensure the thugs who are stealing in the area are apprehended and prosecuted," said the OCPD.
