A truck carrying crates of beer overturned on Saturday morning at Roysambu to the delight of locals.
While it was bad news for the company that owns the truck, it was a blessing in disguise for the people of Roysambu and passers-by.
As soon as the news spread that the truck had taken a tumble, scores of residents descended on the scene of the accident in their numbers keen to take what they could for themselves.
They mounted the ill-fated vehicle and took as many bottles as they could manage to hold for themselves.
There are those who decided to guzzle the contents of the beer bottles at the scene of the accident.
Within no time police officers from the nearby Kasarani Police Station descended on the scene, bringing to an end what had been a free-for-all situation.
There was a scuffle as some of the people helping themselves to the beer refused to budge at the sight of the uniformed law enforcement officers.
Photos of residents helping themselves to the free beer were widely shared on Twitter, causing Roysambu to trend on the social media platform.
It was not immediately clear whether the driver and the turn-boy or anybody else was injured in the incident.
