Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has laughed off threats by ODM to dissolve the National Super Alliance (NASA).
Through his private secretary Kibisu Kabatesi, the ANC boss said ODM was no longer part of the opposition, claiming it defected to Jubilee Party long ago.
He said the handshake between former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta marked the end of ODM ties with the opposition.
"The ranting is deceptive and hypocritical. ODM long defected to Jubilee. They just need to formalise their defection," Kabatesi said on Wednesday.
He further told off ODM after it protested ANC's decision to field Eliud Owalo as its candidate in the upcoming Kibra parliamentary by-election, saying according to the NASA agreement, every affiliate party was free to seek any seat apart from the presidential seat in the 2017 polls.
"More so it’s ODM that has been fond of fraudulently fielding against its partners," Kabatesi observed.
He was reacting after ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna declared NASA dead after ANC and Moses Wetang'ula's Ford-Kenya fielded candidates in the Kibra race.
"We now want to formalise it and perform the final rites. Fresh coalitions will emerge from the Kibra election, whatever the result," Sifuna said adding that he has Raila’s blessings in pushing for the dissolution of the opposition coalition.
"We want to formalise this divorce instead of them always undermining us and pretending to be our friends," he added.
