Speaking on Monday, the county boss who was actively involved in the push for multiparty democracy in the 80s revealed that it takes a lot to create a nation.

He noted that it includes pain and dedication, and is not an overnight process, recalling how himself and his colleagues who participated in the push suffered for their achievement.

"We must realise that building a nation is social engineering, it is something that painfully takes place. For those of us who were involved with the second liberation, it wasn’t easy. Building a nation doesn’t happen by accident. - Anyang' Nyong'o," he said.

The leader who was speaking on AM Live on Modnag morning was referring to his participation in the push to compel former President Daniel Moi to accept multipartysm.

This came at a time when KANU was the only legal bloc, after Moi had managed to ban other parties, possibly to assure himself of an uninterrupted stay at the helm of government.

Thanks to his push for the second liberation, Nyongo ended up exiled in Mexico.

Others like veteran politician Koigi Wa Wamwere and ODM Leader Raila Odinga were also repeatedly jailed for questioning the government.
