Kenya has over the years been linked to different vices such as corruption, nepotism and tribalism which have all dragged the country behind in terms of development.

These vices have led to hostility among some of the communities in the country, with members of these communities viewing each other as rivals.

However, a section of Kenyans, prominent politicians included, have chosen to rise above the enmity and have gone beyond the tribal borders to marry spouses from different ethnic communities.

Here is a list of some of the prominent politicians in the country who married women from the Kikuyu community.

1. Moses Masika Wetangula

Wetangula is the current Bungoma Senator and a NASA co-principal. The senator is married to a Kikuyu lady, Ann Wacheke Ngugi. In 2016, the two made headlines after filing separate cases accusing each other of assault.

2. James Orengo

Senate Minority Leader James Orengo is married to Betty Murungi, a lady from the Gema community. Betty is also a lawyer like her husband.

3. Babu Owino 

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is married to Fridah Muthoni. The two met in campus and are blessed with one child.

4. Kipchuma Murkomen

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchuma Murkomen is one of the vocal politicians in the country. He is happily married to Gladys Wanjiru, a Kikuyu lady from Central. They are blessed with four children.

5. Alfred Mutua

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is married to Lilian Ng'ang'a. Lilian is considered to be among the top in the list of the most beautiful wives of politicians in the country. The governor met the former model in 2011.
