The 8 were arrested after a footage on CCTV cameras showed them participating in torching a dormitory worth over Sh6 million.

The prosecution told the court that the suspects committed the offence on the night of July, 10th 2018.

The suspects appeared before Kisii magistrate Ezekiel Obina and denied the charges leveled against them, however, they pleaded with the court to release them on bond on grounds that they were being fixed by the school management.

The eight suspects are in form 4 and are expected to sit for their final KCSE exams this year.

Obina released them on Sh200,000 bond each or a Sh50,000 cash bail each.

He warned them against boycotting proceedings and interfering with witnesses saying their bond will be denounced and they be held in custody.

During the fire incident, property worth thousands of shillings was destroyed but no causalities were reported.
