Barely 3 years after its formation, the ruling Jubilee Party seems to be weakening as days go by.
The party had been facing internal wrangles and walkout threats by some members, a demonstration everything is not fine inside the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led side.
On Saturday, nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura hit out at the party, claiming that it is losing sight of its initial mission and has been rendered empty and useless.
"Basing on how it has been operating lately, the party is nothing more of some colors, a slogan and two or more occasions," he said.
He was speaking in an interview on the Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Radio Jambo, Saturday morning.
He took issue with the party's recent decision to not field candidates for the vacant Ugenya and Embakasi South parliamentary seats.
The party through its Secretary General said that the move was arrived at with respect to the March 9 truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader.
However, some Jubilee lawmakers led by Gatundu South parliamentarians have since declared support for Musili Mawathe whose victory was annulled by the Supreme Court.
Mawathe will be facing off with former MP Irshad Sumra of Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) who successfully petitioned against Mawathe's 2017 win.
Mwaura's remarks against the party are likely to land him in trouble with the Jubilee leadership and diehards.
