Magistrate Gloria Barasa has ordered police to detain four suspects linked to the brutal killing of Diana Kerubo, 9, and four-year-old Stephany Kerubo Atuti for 14 days to allow investigations to be completed.

The suspects, David Omwega, Timothy Aroni (27), Gilbert Nyabuto Musa (20) and Evans Nyabuto (16) were arraigned at the Ogembo Law Courts on Friday.

The four are accused of raping and killing the minors at their home in Omobondo village, Kenyenya in Kisii County on Wednesday evening 

Charles Wambugu, the officer in charge of investigating the brutal murder of the two minors asked the court to detain the suspects for 14 more days to allow time for further probe. 

Wambugu further informed the court that some money which is believed to have been stoled from the house was recovered from the suspects.

Magistrate Barasa ordered the suspects be detained for 14 days as requested by the prosecution before they return to court to be charged with the murder of the minors. 

The bodies of the children are being preserved at Hema Hospital morgue. 

The incident has been condemned by several leaders in the area including Kisii County Assembly Majority Leader Timothy Ogugu.

"I am condemning the brutal murder of the minors and urge parents to ensure the safety of their children," said Ogugu.
