Kenyan social media users have come out to criticize NRG radio shortly after Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge through his lawyer Donald Kipkorir threatened to take the radio station to court for using the athlete's image and name without his consent.
In a letter addressed to NRG Radio, NRG radio was given 2 hours to apologize to the athlete and also directed to pull down Kipchoge's name and images from his social media accounts.
A good number of Kenyans on Twitter supported Kipchoge and criticized the radio station citing that it was not appropriate for them to take advantage of the athlete's achievement.
Some of the netizens were not pleased by the fact that Kipchoge had worked so hard in order to break the historic record yet the his achievement was being misused for cheap publicity.
Some of the netizens nonetheless cautioned the athlete against going into a legal battle with the radio station. They argued that he had been known as a humble man and thus the controversy may affect the way people view him.
NRG radio has nonetheless changed their social media usernames to exclude the name 'Kipchoge'.
