A middle-aged woman died on Wednesday after being electrocuted at Amref area in Kibra, Nairobi.
Reports indicate that the woman was taking a bath when the accident happened.
The incident was confirmed by Kibra AP commander Andrew Musaisi, who said Kenya Power officials were notified of the same.
Following the incident, Kenya power officials disconnected power from the house, to enable retrieval of the body.
Illegal power connections in the slum has been blamed for the accident.
In May this year, Nairobi County Deputy Director Fire Rescue and Disaster Management Brian Esali observed that most of the fire accidents are borought about by electric faults.
However, KPLC Communication Director Kevin Sang refuted claims that electric shots cause fire.
"We have cartels who connect electricity and sell to consumers but rarely do electric shocks cause fires. When you look at the cables carefully you realise they can not cause such faults," he said as quoted by Standard.
The death has shocked a section of area residents since it came a few hours before the start of Christmas festivities.
