Amani National Congress (ANC) party Secretary General Godfrey Osostsi has again bashed the party leader Musalia Mudavadi for snubbing the mock presidential coronation of opposition leader Raila Odinga on January 30.
Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya and Wiper party counterparts Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka skipped the controversial event which saw the opposition’s National Super Alliance (NASA) chief sworn in in the presence of thousands of opposition supporters.
Speaking on Radio Maisha’s ‘Bunge La Maisha’ on Tuesday morning, the nominated lawmaker said that Mudavadi’s absence subjected him, Vihiga Senator George Khaniri and his Kakamega counterpart Cleopa Malala to heavy questioning from their supporters.
The trio which is known for its regular condemnations on Mudavadi was present for the event which Mudavadi had initially vowed to attend, with Osotsi stating that they even facilitated the transportation of supporters from Western Kenya, who later demanded answers on why Mudavadi was absent.
‘’Mudavadi alituhadaa hapo mbeleni akasema kwamba atakuwa katika uapisho wa Raila nasi tukaleta watu kwa mabasi kutoka Western kushuhudia. Baadaye, alipokosa kujitokeza, tukawa sisi ndio tunaulizwa maswali magumu.
(We were later subjected to hard questions on his absence, as we had brought supporters in buses to witness the swearing in, people who were now disappointed with his absence),’’ said Osotsi.
The absence would later subject the three to mockery, including being branded cowards and traitors, with the trio giving many excuses to justify their move.
However, in a recent live interview on Citizen television, Mudavadi made it clear that he witnessed the coronation as illegal and could not contradict his record, having served as both Vice President and Deputy Premier in the past regimes.
Osotsi, Khaniri and Malala, all of whom are in office on Mudavadi's party, have since been tagged ANC rebels.
